Day 6 -Santa Cruz and Daphne

Wednesday April 3rd-Santa Cruz and Daphne

Schedule for day:

6:00 wake up call

6:30-8:00 disembark boat and long hike on Cierro Dragon

8:00-9:00 breakfast

10:30 snorkeling

12:30 Ecuadorian buffet

1:30 Zodiac ride

4:00 video presentation

5:30 sunset champagne toast

7:00 recap

7:30 dinner

At 6:30 took a Zodiac to Cerro Dragon on the island of  Santa Cruz we disembarked for a long hike where we saw pink flamingos (flamencos), large Galapagos land iguanas (Iguana terrestre de Galapagos), 

After breakfast we had another snorkeling experience but not as clear as Monday.  Morgan was a bit fearful of the deep waters.  We saw King Angelfish (Pez Bandera), Razor Surgeonfish (Pez Chancho).  The deep sea scuba divers say sharks such as hammerhead and white tipped shark (tintorineo).

The Ecuadorian buffet was the best meal by far.  Some of my favorites were the roast suckling pic, coconut grouper, ceviche, cassava bread (Pan de yucca), tres leches.  The waitstaff was dressed in traditional Panama hats. Panama hats are made from Ecuador and NOT Panama.

Following lunch the kids got a chance to drive the Zodiac and the adults enjoyed a cruise on the Zodiac.

The afternoon continued with a video title "What Darwin Never Saw" which showed 2 scientists following the life of the Darwin finches.  They were getting close to becoming extinct but el Nino in 1982 that brought much water to the dry island helped them to flourish once again.

The evening ended with a beautiful sunset champagne toast and dinner.
